Description: Hello!! We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’re putting together a creative team for our upcoming production exploring Christ’s Descent into Hell !

Jesus has been crucified — but the story does not end at the Cross. In this gripping episode from the York Mystery Cycle, Christ descends into Hell to free the souls of the righteous from Satan’s grasp. What follows is a fierce and thrilling confrontation between light and darkness, power and redemption. A bold, visceral retelling of the Harrowing of Hell!

We are looking for the following roles:

Stage Manager – to help make our immersive vision possible and to serve as a link between the performance and the audience.

Welfare Officer – to ensure that everyone feels safe and supported throughout this intense and provocative production.

Sound Designer – to create a hellish, distorted, echoing soundscape that evokes destruction and spiritual confrontation.

Lute Player (any medieval instrument is welcome!) – to perform and curate troubadour and medieval music to accompany the play.

Lighting Designer – to work with footlights, candles, and the incredible space of St Edmund’s Crypt.

Costume Designer – to design satanic puppets and experiment with bold body paint and textured, infernal aesthetics.

Choreographer – to develop minimalist, rhythmic, devilish movement sequences that bring the demons of Hell to life.
