Description: The average person will speak 123,205,750 words in a lifetime. But what if there were a limit? Oliver and Bernadette are about to find out.
Lighthouse Productions are looking for a visionary crew to stage Sam Steiner's debut play, Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, in Weeks 3-5 HT26.
About the play
The play follows a young couple as they navigate the implementation of the Quietude Bill, a decree that limits all citizens to just 140 words a day. Bernadette and Oliver struggle with the reality of the ‘Hush Law’: there are some things you can’t say in just a hundred and forty words. Forget wedding speeches, or presentations or epic poetry. Songs. The suppression of language threatens the foundations of Bernadette and Oliver’s relationship.
Lemons imagines a world where we’re forced to say less. But it’s the seemingly trivial topics that feed human connection: pet cemeteries, cheese graters, and lemons, lemons, lemons, lemons, lemons.
Under the pressure of this draconian Hush Law, Steiner crystalises the essential human experience of miscommunication. This is a play which explores not only the wider issues of democracy and free speech, but also the more intimate issues which lie at the centre of our relationships.
We are looking for the following roles:

• Assistant Producer

Our Vision
Our creative vision for the play is one which transcends the limits of speech. Under the Hush Law, Oliver and Bernadette must learn to communicate in between the lines - in abbreviations and dashes and morse code. So must our designers. We are looking for a team who can fill an empty stage with the thoughts and feelings we cannot say out loud. Think bold, unique, and visionary.
