Deadline: Monday 24th November 23.59
Audition Type: Self-tape
Labyrinth Productions and Full Moon Theatre are looking for three actors to perform our newly developed translation and adaption of Rachilde’s Madame la Mort for a rehearsed reading in Oxford on 5th December and a two night run at The Hope Theatre, London on 12-13th January, as we develop the play to take it to the Ed-Fringe next summer.
The play follows a suicidal young man caught between two women: Lucie (Life) and Madame la Mort (Death). The middle act takes place entirely inside his fractured psyche.
Through elements of heightened movement, fragmented dialogue, and a shifting soundscape inspired by Ravel’s music, Madame la Mort becomes a queer, dreamlike autopsy of performance, suicide, and the fetishisation of suffering.
We’re casting an ensemble of three performers. The piece is fully multi-role, so we’re not casting for fixed characters. Instead, we are looking for versatile actors and performers that can embody this text. Open to all!!
This text is still in development through a writers room structure. Therefore the self-tape extracts are from Old Times by Harold Pinter (due to its similar style, themes and character composition. Please feel free to record one (or another monologue of your choosing) and send it to us via the form below.
