Set in 1896 at Girton College, Cambridge, Blue Stockings follows four brilliant young women as they fight for the right to graduate and be awarded degrees alongside men. Despite academic excellence, they are denied formal recognition, forcing them to confront sexism, class divisions, romantic entanglements, and the personal cost of progress.
This production is especially resonant at St Hilda’s, a college with a long history as a women’s institution, making Blue Stockings a powerful opportunity to reflect on women’s education at Oxford and beyond.
