Cross Keys Productions are looking for THREE ACTORS to portray significant roles in our production of Macbeth later this term. The production is going to be extremely unique, with its Mafia setting, in a college chapel, with a freshly composed organ score for the play.
We are beginning rehearsals next week, so you will have as much time to prepare as the whole cast. These parts are open to all actors, and the parts themselves can be played as any gender.
We hope the roles will entice people who have limited time to invest into a part that still remains worthwhile to play.
A brief overview of the three roles we are casting:
ROSS (~160 lines): Ross is a thane of Scotland, like Macbeth and Macduff, and unlike some of the more famous parts (like Banquo) he is a constant presence throughout the play. He acts as a barometer for Scotland's shifting political status, and later becomes a double agent between Macbeth and the rebels.
LENNOX (~95 lines): Another thane of Scotland, Lennox plays the role of the observer and commentator upon Macbeth's actions. He was very loyal to Duncan and suspects Macbeth from the beginning. Like Ross, he balances a loyalty with Macbeth with a desire to rebel. There is a smaller line burden than with Ross, however he gets just as much screen time!
FLEANCE (~50 lines): Fleance is the son of Banquo, Macbeth's friend turned enemy. An innocent character: his presence as a threat to Macbeth's line of succession, spurs a an attempt to murder him. It is implied by the witches that he will eventually become king (although we never see this happen). He will take the lines of the sergeant: and delivers the first speech in the play, as well as one of the thanes during the rebellion at the end.
