Iolanthe (or The Peer and The Peri) combines Fairyland with the House of Westminster, and the result is Gilbert and Sullivan's most spectacular creation. We follow the story of the humble shepherd Strephon, engaged to the beautiful Phyllis, who faces up against the might and stupidity of the House of Lords in a perfect mix of political satire and operatic beauty.
