This visionary, bold adaptation will discuss three key strands of Faustus's character: Fascism, Calvinism, and Material Excess. Setting the action in a space evoking a church, the ideas posited by Calvin emphasising individualism and self-reliance will be taken to excess, as Faustus seeks out ultimate power, ultimate knowledge, and ultimate capability. These will be realised through a contemporary aesthetic lens rooted in expressionist and absurdism: viewing what this may mean to us socially and politically in a context of neo-fascism.
