“It’s been less than two weeks and already the first cast couple has emerged: Shaun Willis and Frigid Bridget - who, after ten minutes alone with Shaun behind the badminton courts, has officially shed her title’.

Set in a British all-girls boarding school, CRUSH is a coming-of-age story about the pains and pleasures of growing up. It's chaotic, tender and disarming; a play about testing boundaries and what happens when you cross them.

When the new English teacher Mr Evans announces a joint production of a Midsummer Night's Dream, the turnout has never been higher. Even best friends Annie and Jo sign up. But when Mr Evans gives a key role to the mysterious new girl Mary, Annie vows to get to the bottom of what makes their relationship so special.

The story follows the production’s turbulent rehearsal period; the horrors of auditions (relatable?) and the chaos of cast romance. It culminates in a dramatic confrontation on opening night - a night that no one is going to forget.

We aim to use the North Wall residency as a starting point for CRUSH’s production life. With this in mind, we’re keen to build a show (and a company) that we can take beyond Oxford.
