OUDS New Writing Festival

The OUDS New Writing Festival is back and it's better than ever!!

Five categories: Play, scene, monologue, musical song/score and a prompted scene.

Submission dates: February 15th for everything except the prompted scenes which are due February 22nd

What happens then? A team of students from the OUDS committee will shortlist five pieces from each category. These will then be sent to an external judging team to pick the winners of each category, with the exception of the prompted piece which will be student voted on the night of the festival!

How to get involved: All you have to do is submit a piece that fits within the criteria of one of the five categories. You are allowed to submit as many pieces as you want and enter all the categories you want, but you cannot submit the same piece twice in different categories.

You can submit your piece through this google form

We want anyone and everyone to get involved, whether you've written plays before or not. This is a great gateway into writing for student theatre and (possibly) even seeing your piece(s) performed! We particularly encourage freshers and writers from under-represented backgrounds in OUDS to get involved.

This will all culminate in a performance festival of all the shortlisted pieces at the Jericho Tavern on the 12th of March. Actors from OUDS will do rehearsed reading of each piece, and the winners of every category will be announced. It's going to be incredible, so even if you aren't a writer, you should consider performing at the festival, or just coming to hear all the exciting writing going on within OUDS!!

Can't wait to read so many incredible plays, scenes and monologues and to hear so many incredible songs and scored.

Get writing.
