Launa

Launa (Tidal Theatre)

Venue/Date of Show: BT / 18th-22nd November (Week 6)

Content Warnings: Grief, Child Death, Mentions of Pregnancy and Childbirth, Flashing Lights

Deadline: Friday 24th November

Description: Brought to life through vivid physical theatre, music, puppetry and experimental stagecraft, Tidal Theatre’s Launa follows Edna, a young mother processing the loss of her daughter, Launa, a year after her death. Grief has many faces: cold calls and supermarket flowers, sometimes earth-shattering implosions of memory, and sometimes a quietly childlike apparition, asking if she’d like to play.

As the life Launa might have lived flickers in and out of focus, we ask whether relationships in the present are possible whilst Edna clings to the past, and when silenced, to what lengths will grief go to make itself heard?

Roles available:
We are currently searching for the following crew members:
- Co-Set Designer
We start in a naturalistic flat—paintings, flowers, mugs—but everything must move. The set shifts with Edna’s psyche, distorting throughout the play. A dream role for someone excited by realism and reinvention. This person will partner with our existing set designer, blending creative visions to build the world of the play.

- Lighting Designer
From soft natural light to nightmare spotlights, handheld lights and torch-lit scenes, lighting tells the story as much as the script. You’ll help sculpt two worlds—Edna’s present and her haunting subconscious.

- Lighting Assistant
Due to the creative complexity of our show, this person will work closely with our lighting designer to transform artistic vision into reality. A perfect position for someone excited for a technically stimulating job or anyone looking to learn more about lighting design.

- Stage Manager
The backbone of the production. You’ll manage rehearsals, coordinate tech, and keep track of all the moving parts (literally). Calm and detail-oriented.
