Blackstar Productions are excited to present their first show – ‘Teen Spirit’ – an original bittersweet comedy about grief, ghosts and grunge rock.

Noah is dead. He spends his days in Limbo with Elijah, a Z-list ‘90s grunge rocker and fellow dead person, occasionally getting glimpses of the living world, until he gets a glimpse of his living brother, and his brother sees him too. After finding out that this probably means that he will ‘move on’ soon, Noah finds himself torn between the world of the living and the dead, flicking between the two desperately trying to reconcile with his brother and grappling with the fact that he is about to die… again. Think Waiting For Godot meets All Of Us Strangers meets an Alice In Chains concert, complete with loud music and funky concert lighting!

No prior acting experience is required, and we encourage anybody and everybody to audition!
All roles are open to everyone regardless of ethnicity, and roles can be adapted to suit access requirements.

All the characters are written to be men or male-aligned, as the play touches on themes of queer masculinity and how even men who are not traditionally masculine can still be affected by toxic masculinity and struggle with expressing their emotions. However, we have no interest in exclusively casting male-identifying actors.
We will be casting the play gender blind, and regardless of whether our actors would conventionally be considered ‘male-presenting’ or not.

Role breakdowns and further audition information can be found in the audition pack.
